The fires were bad. Im sure most Aussie forum members know someone who was affected, or were themselves. I have a friend who's sister and partner lost their house and car on kangaroo island and then struggled for money with the red tape delaying the donations people gave. A number of us sent some cash directly to help them get through in the first couple of weeks but I really feel for people who didnt have the help. I understand a lot of people ended up in similar situations. I know someone who knows some others who lost a shed and some of their rural farm, but didnt loose their house. They did have to do the grab everything and evacuate, and really appreciate the country fire service (CFS). I actually had lunch at a pub near an affected area yesterday and I noticed someone had spray painted a huge love heart and "Love the CFS" across the road.
A radio station I listen to is running a program all year to give free advertising to businesses in that situation ( https://fresh927.com.au/bushfire/ ). If any members in SA know a business that needs help they should enter it in to the form on that page. There is some good information about what happened and the scale on wikipedia. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019%E2%8 ... ire_season
A lot less things are on fire now, but the scale of this one was huge. Even if some of the trees that are built for fire areas re-sprout I think it'll take a lot more for the animal populations to recover.

So sad to read about not only the loss of human life, but the billions of animals and flora that were drastically affected by this.
