Code 19 PCM Help

Post by Charlescrown »

Not sure just where to post this so please move it if I'm in the wrong place. My neighbor came in and said all the dash lights came on and the instruments stopped working briefly. I scanned all the modules and found a heap in the instrument section. After erasing them 2 still remain. They are both for a code 19 current and history. I can't erase either so my guess is there is a positive problem. Any help appreciated.

Sorry it slipped my mind. It's a gen3 VY auto.

I found this for the vt dash. Not sure exactly what pcm error means, perhaps communication to it.

Scan the PCM and PIM and check for codes, then clear or fix and clear them first.
It's a code to say another module (PCM) has a code stored also

Thanks for the replies. I did see the same codes logged in the PCM and erased them and their gone and checked all the others but it's the instruments that has the code 19 I can't get rid of. I'll try again and post back.

Just did a rescan and the only area with codes was the instruments and boy did it have heaps. All communication problems with modules so it's looking like a canbus problem. Don't know where to start with this one so he's going to take it elsewhere.

Yeah those communications issues can be hard to track down, had one with my VY Calais which turned out to be an intermittent fault with the ABS module - but when it faulted, it obviously put bad data on the bus and everything went nuts.

Yea I have had some experience with the ABS but it usually pulls down all the diagnostics and if you disconnect it you can the scan everything else. I'll see how he goes today and if it's no good I might disconnect the ABS module and see what happens. As you said it may be intermittent corrupted data that isn't logging a code.
