Quiet Popping noise at air box
Does any one else have a popping noise at air box?
I'm curious as it could be part of a miss I'm chasing.
I'd take a video, but the engine would probably drown out the popping noise.
Edit: the ecotec VS V6
Cheers
I'll have to get a video soon.

What engine? And you'll need to post up a video as no one will have any idea without hearing it.
I'm the director of VSH (Vlad's Spec Holden), because HSV were doing it ass about.

Hi, No go with hearing the quiet popping sound, over the air intake noise on the video taken on my phone. Does any one have a popping noise at the airbox on there VS v6 ecotec?

Re: Quiet Popping noise at air box
might be a burnt/bent valve or a seat with a problem on an intake valve. compression/ leak back test
or could be cam wear. Take the rockers off and turn it over by hand and make sure all the rockers move the same to check that

They won't run with a broken intake spring if the engine has a MAF, barely so at WOT.Charlescrown wrote:Broken valve spring?

It all depends on where the spring has broken. One coil and it still runs fine.

Re: Quiet Popping noise at air box
I had my mate's VY break a spring so one intake valve stayed open a little and it was so bad it only just ran at WOT like it was only firing on 1 cylinder. MAF system completely looses it's mind when you have intake reverse direction back and forth and basically won't run.
We replaced the whole engine thinking something catastrophic happened but it was fine apart from one coil broken once I tore the whole engine down.

Put a vacuum gauge on it. If it's a bad/broken valve spring, burnt valve or damaged seat etc it will show up.
