Electronic Part

Post by VX L67 Getrag »

Hey all,

Your going to think this is weird bu does anyone know what one of these looks like;

diode-10a-200v-20 ns-dual-to220-3-u10dct-e3-4w

Is it like a small black box with 4 legs on it & a white marking on top?

I have 1 on a power supply & it's blown apart & can't find any Google images on it to check?

See this for info on diodes:

And this for what the TO-220 packaging looks like:

Have you read the FAQ? For lots of information and links to significant threads see here: http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1396

ok bugger thats not it!

I'm not sure what it is, it is a 4 legged square box with white on top of it & 2 legs off each side!

On the circuit board it had u1 written beside it!

Thanks for the quick reply! :?:

U1 means it wont be a diode, will be an IC (could be logic level, opto isolator ... depends where it is the supply and what type of supply it is) Often finding the part is hard, and if its blown apart even harder without schematics or knowing the actual supply. If you need it repaired I have used amtex, should be able to fix it or replace it for you.

Thanks Again for the quick reply, both of you!

It's not actually worth that much to get repaired if I could do it myself was worth a go, it had a blown track & poorly soldered main power in connector which I have fixed, but with this part being so hard to trace it's probably not worth the worry!

Cheap Chinese S#%T, built with chop sticks not soldering irons! :D

If it happens to be a switch mode power supply and one component has failed like that, it's quite likely that it will have taken a few other components with it.
Often the obviously damaged components are as a result of a failure elsewhere and if replaced, will continue to fail until the other fault is fixed (often the simplest solution is just to replace all of the components).
