Re: Dicks Electronics RTLS1 offered to single users
Decided not to sell as a kit.
Single user price fully assembled is $2000 you must supply a working LS1 PCM. Yes is has all the features of the Workshop version. It is the same except it does not come with the 80 pin patch cord.
If you wish to tune more than I car you will have to purchase a 80 pin patch lead or wire up your own. Very easy to make.

As you know the roadrunner is an add on piece of hardware that works with EFILive and TunerCat.boosted4runner wrote:what's the benefit over the moates roadrunner RT PCM which costs around $600
If we treat the the RTLS1 PCM as an add on (PCM hardware only) it's cost would be around $1000 and
does not incur a licence fee of $199 like the roadrunner.
http://static.moates.net/press/moates_g ... v_2006.pdf
So the difference in hardware cost is only $200.
Benefits of the RTLS1 PCM over moates roadrunner Emulation PCM
---------------------------------------------------------------
- The RTLS1 does not emulate real time. The RTLS1 operates in Realtime just like a Motec, Autronic, Haltech after market ECU.
- All communications is Ethernet RJ45 (10 Mbps) built in. High speed logging is available at 100 fps which is 10 times faster than the roadrunner or any tuning tool using the OBD-II protocol.
- High speed logging makes it possible to accurately pin point knock position allowing for more efficient spark tables to be developed.
- A/F ratios also can be adjusted more accurately during transition areas which cannot be seen let alone be tuned with OBD-II logging speeds.
- Changing Data Parameters IMMEDIATELY in Real Time.
- Upload/Download ENTIRE Data/Parameters in just under 2 seconds
- High Speed Data Logging requests 700 PIDs all at the same time with each frame at 90+ frames per second, unlike OBD-II logging which requests one pid after the other at 10 fps.
Try logging 50 pids with any OBD-II tuning tool. Frame rate will probably be down to 1 or 2 frames per second. Just imagine the logging detail that can be achieve at 90 fps for accurate tuning.
- You never have to pay for any Licences. Tune as many cars as you wish.
- Uses the highly popular TCP/IP protocol. Yes, your car even gets its own IP!
- Wireless connection possible using Wireless Access Points/Bridge (Feel like datalogging from the grandstand?)
- Even tune a car over the Internet!
- View your car's status via a webpage. (RPM, Coolant, Temp etc.)

Re: Dicks Electronics RTLS1 offered to single users
The reduced price for single users for the RTLS1 is no longer available.

DAMN, I was looking at taking 10.... LOL JK
Re: Dicks Electronics RTLS1 offered to single users
2K and you have to supply a pcm? And thats the reduced price!
I really dont see the value there, even though roadrnner emulates it
does the job well enough for real time tuning and cost is $600
andd thats a supplied replacement pcm too, plus license is $249
Dont see how it compares really.
Yeah it has extra options but are they really needed?
Seems like a great idea just not cost effective.
If you dont have efi live theres another $900 so bit more again.
Still cheaper though.

Fair comment on face value, but when you compare the two in an operational environment there is no comparison. Just like to share my understanding of the two major differences with the RTLS1 that appeal to me.v8-tuning wrote:2K and you have to supply a pcm? And thats the reduced price!

(1) The logging rate which when you study the log of a car it has enormous amount of information and as you log at a much faster rate this information increases with a great deal of clarity particularly helpful if you have a niggling issue.
(2) Collecting logging packets this is where the RTLS1 in my opinion excels. For example when logging with Delco it collects all the pids at the same time so when comparing say rpm to load they are collected at the same time. Now with the LS1 OBD11 it requests each pid one at the time therefore if the rpm is requested first and the load is requested last there is a time difference and they will not line up so if you are tuning and you note the rpm, load and knock it is possible to be changing corrective timing in the wrong place the only mechanism to reduce the possible error with all other tuning tools is smoothing.
Now with the RTLS1 system it is operating out of the central processor and functions the same as the Delco by collecting all pids at the same time so any inaccuracy is eliminated plus with a very high frame rate the accuracy of identifying a knock location is far superior to all other LS1 tuning tools without exception including adjusting fuel location after considering the wideband location/lag, which also considerably reduces interpolation as the engine moves through the timing or fuel delivery tuning location.

Re: Dicks Electronics RTLS1 offered to single users
Does sound great, would want to be a serious engine to warrant the cost though.
I tuned my ls1 just fine with efi live making 430rwhp, but not having realtime does suck though.
Will be getting roadrunner very soon.

Speaking of wideband, is there any provision for adding wideband data to the data stream like the other guys do with the analogue ports in their cables?
Have you read the FAQ? For lots of information and links to significant threads see here: http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1396

Yes the wideband input is a mini UHF socket mounted on a small box on the RJ45 Ethernet cable which runs from PCM to PC. Wideband logging is also at 100fps.antus wrote:Speaking of wideband, is there any provision for adding wideband data to the data stream like the other guys do with the analogue ports in their cables?
