You need to have VPP (programming voltage). This would need to be generated on this board, and then solder in a wire from the main CPU (would need to find a spare pin) to switch it on at the right time. Then write (or mod the existing) flash code to upload to the ECU RAM. With the '808s very limited RAM it would be a real challenge to make it work. I think the RAM would be the biggest issue. So possible, maybe, but a fair bit of work.

Ah, I see. Looking more closely at the picture, the Flash is a 27SF010. I was thinking more like a 39SF010A or a 29EE010. Solves the VPP and whole-device-erase-only issues.

However, if the RAM is limited, that's a show-stopper.

BTW, interestingly, some of the SST product line has been sold to a start-up called Greenliant, whereas some has been retained by Microchip.

So does this mean that a chip burner would still be needed to reprogram?

Yes. The best option is to use an adaptor that converts the memcal connector back to DIP.

If you have a bin you want burnt to it can be loaded before posting so a programmer is not required (flashtool get bin to save your tuned bin). Its a direct replacement for an NVRAM once you are finished tuning, same dual bin function etc.

hi guys, any chance of a set of instructions for this unit or a link to said instructions?

I have a V3.1 unit and cannot find this info, anywhere.

Thanks

im not sure that there is any, I have one of these, what information are you after ?

mostly it can be found printed on the PCB.

ie. set the jumper for your cars cylinders, then you have a jumper for memcal or not, if its set to memcal you need to plug one into the side of it.

theres also a bin switch jumper, I allows you to use the other half of the eeprom, so can have two totally different tunes on it, or just a backup.

also with the eeprom, if its the 27sf010 as pictured, then you will need to stack a $12P (32kb) tune 4 times to burn to it, or in the case of $11P (64kb) stack 2 times.
