FS: ECM EEPROM/Flash Memcal (VN to VS but not VS Ecotec)
ECM EEPROM/Flash Memcal Replacement
Suitable for ECMs with these service numbers
1227808 (the '808)
16176424 (the '424)
16183082
16206305
16195699
These ECMs were used in these applications:
Commodore/Statesman VN/VP All
VR All
VS V8 Except Series 3
N13 Pulsar
LD Astra
JE Camira
Usage
They can be programmed with any bin and do not require a UV eraser, supplied with 27SF010 flash memory. This is a 1mbit IC so you get dual map switching via the on-board jumper. No soldering is required for installation and can be used in place of a standard memcal or when you have finalised a NVRAM tune. They DO NOT allow real-time tuning or writing from the flashtool. Instructions are provided
Purchasing
ECM EEPROM/flash replacements are $70 delivered. If you have a bin you want programmed this can be done prior to posting.

Any way the knock board from HSV models can be used with these?

Yep, works exactly like the NVRAM boards - either just plug a HSV memcal in to the headers or solder the filter to the pads on the board.

I actually just fitted the knock board to my one of these, is there any reason the knock pads are not through holes ?
No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

Yeah its due to the size of the holes required. The knock filter legs are flat rectangle, so for a round hole it became huge and with a stack of tracks underneath leading to the memcal header it was difficult to route around them.
And it is just as easy to tin the filter leg, put solder on to the pad and place the filter on it. Once you have one done can easily get the others soldered in place. The pads are also larger than the early NVRAM boards.

Just out of curiosity, If this was fitted to a VR/VS V8 could you use the OSE flash tool to read/write the flash memcal?

Read yes, write no. You need an NVRAM for that.

Looks good! Besides the EEPROM whats the difference between this and the NVRAM set up you offer? Different board?

Its a different board to what Antus sells as it is to suit the different pinout of the 27SF010 flash chip vs DS1245Y. You cannot mix and match the memory IC between the two.
This board can be used for those just wanting to make simple changes to a bin and do not require RT write (say VATS off) or after tuning to finalise a tune and move the NVRAM to another car.

I've been wondering about this ... if the OSE Flash Tool can write cals and bins on Flash-based PCM's, shouldn't it be possible to do the same (perhaps with enhanced firmware) on older ECU/PCM's with a Flash-based memcal?VL400 wrote:Read yes, write no. You need an NVRAM for that.
