I have tried awhile back to get ALDL on a Jack but couldnt get anything working, they should like you say have both OBD2 and some sort of ALDL. If you can get the bin (they are a flash PCM so might be hard) it may be possible to work out. If someone has a scan tool that can interface to them that would be the easiest way to sniff of some data and see what is happening.

Has anyone recently installed the drivers for this on Windows Vista? Ive done it on Windows XP previously but now have a new laptop (second hand) done a fresh install of Vista along with all the updates (must of been nearly 2 gig of downloads)

Having trouble installing the drivers, as soon as i plug it in windows installs drivers, then says the device is faulty.
I then go to device manager is says it's unknown device and it also says the drivers are up to date but displays no drivers are installed.

This is my first time with Vista but ive heard its a crappy system to deal with. I do have a copy of Windows 7 laying around not sure how compatible this laptop is though.

Try installing the driver manual from the exe here .. http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm

Direct link .. http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/CDM/CDM20830_Setup.exe

It should work fine on Vista

Ok thanks, I already tried that driver, I have a screen shot on the laptop I was going to post (on the phone at the moment)
From memory it says it needs to be elevated??? And won't install.

I'd appreciate your help im sure it can be done. Would you prefer me to start a new thread with some screen shots tomorrow night?
I've got a few, it won't be untill tomorrow night though.

Can post here if you want.

For elevated permissions when installing it, save the exe file, then right click it and choose 'Run as administrator'.

No luck unfortunately. I ran set up but windows still says unrecognised device. So I choose update driver's show it the install file and windows says the latest driver is aleady installed. I'm out of my depth here.

I appreciate how hard this is to assist with over the internet. Im thinking of trying windows 7 that was on my previous laptop and this worked fine.
But I think that's what killed it, it was made for xp and after I installed 7 it ran red hot always.
I won't rush into it hopefully someone knows a solution?
