Far out, interesting project. You are a 1000 times more advanced in your knowledge than I am, but I will point out a few things that may make things make a bit clearer. I think VS is a bit different to VN but this is how I got my Hemi 6 working on ignition only for now.

Pulled a JE Camira ECU wiring loom
Pulled a VN commodore ECU and MEmcal.
Purchased the NVRAM and Comms board from Jayme
Installed the Comms board and NVRAM in the ECU using the detailed instructions supplied.
Purchased a new ignition module, sound like yours is different for the coil packs.
I already had a reluctor dizzy so I didn't need to do much here.
hooked it all up with, the engine earths to the head, the battery positive leads from the Camira loom and switched ignition to a pink wire on the loom and it fired.
It ran rough until I changed the polarity of the dizzy wires.
Also needed to set the ignition at 10 degrees in the tune. You can do this with the NVrAm and tunerpro.
I could have dumbed this a lot more but you certainly know your stuff so I didn't think it was needed.
Good luck.
