delco on a small block chev

Post by Jervies »

I'm wondering the options on running a delco on a small block chev, its on a 350 with an ice electronic ignition. I would go multipoint if it goes ahead and run the timing through the ecu. What ecu would be best for this sort of a thing obviously staying with the map sensor, what sort of trigger setup would I need? The distributor runs a basic chopper wheel in it.
Has anyone done this before and do people think its a good idea.
Cheers

ive done it before on a 350 chev with ICE setup. I cut off the plug going from the dizzy to the module, threw the ICE module away and wired the hall effect sensor in the dizzy directly into a 304 ignition module. connected the rest up to the delco and put one of those F.A.S.T injection quad throttle bodies on it. tuned on an 808 with $12P, worked well.

Assuming you have an ICE distributor, the phasing of it's chopper wheel and rotor button may well not be the same as a Holden V8 distributor which is set up right for a Delco ECU. They should be able to tell you and change it if necesary.

im doing a 350 conversion at the moment here http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=3077. i can give you a complete wiring diagram to suit a reluctor/magnetic type pickup with no a/c if you want. its all based on a vn/vp v6 commodore wiring harness

the ICE dizzy we used on the conversion I did worked fine with the delco.... exactly the same as a 304 dizzy.

yep thats correct, you'd need to use $11P if you want spark cut.

ive used 11P recently on a spark only setup, disabled all the gearbox codes, and other than that, set it up the same as a 12P spark only. it was in a carbied 308. the spark cut worked perfect for what we wanted.

Pins for 424 are the same as 808, just need to depin the PCM plug and repin to a blue connector
