Sure does sound like it's abt to start. Try putting a couple of squirts of oil in each plug hole. It might just be the rings not having a good seal with them new and honed bore.

Spark plugs maybe fouled. Remove plugs and see if their wet or very black and sooty.
Re: 265 Hemi to efi
Both Good suggestions but they were ok and i finally got it started pumping the accelerator. It ran for about 5 minutes but I tried to get it to idle without any pedal and it stalled then it wouldn’t restart. It felt a bit warm as I didn’t have the radiator full, maybe that why it wouldn’t restart. I am recharging the battery now and I now have a bar in the car to pin the throttle so I can get out and set the timing.
Re: 265 Hemi to efi
Found the only way it would start is by holding the throttle wide open.

Re: 265 Hemi to efi
Sounds like the engine was flooding. Don't suppose you did something silly like swapping the dissy trigger wires by mistake. I know from experience they run like crap when you do that.
Re: 265 Hemi to efi
Yes I reckon it was a simple as the engine flooding. I have just been used to the efi firing up straight away and have never had any problems with flooding that's why I hadn't considered it. I thought the 'Start you bastard' down the throttle body was going to help start it but it was just making it worse.
The Valiant Dizzy trigger wires can only be connected one way and these have not been changed. I have made that mistake previously though.

Coolant sensor not connected will tell the ECM its -40C adding heaps of unwanted fuel. Just a thought.
