265 Hemi to efi
Re: 265 Hemi to efi
I aligned the drivers side door and was left with this ugly gap so out come the welder and grinder for some modification.
Re: 265 Hemi to efi
Hi all, it’s been a while since I have posted any Ute updates. I had been waiting for an Adelaide drag meet To be held So that I could take a run with the new MLS head gasket. Anyway That and the Coronavirus is good excuse To continue with the body work. Fortunately the passengers side rear quarter was in pretty good condition except for a knock towards the rear lights which had been heavily filled for no real reason, just slackness.

This back section was completely stuffed after years of being a farm Ute

Re: 265 Hemi to efi
The From half of the tray floor had been covered in Checker plate which was always a worry so it had to come out. I picked up a half ute tray cut about two years ago which had been getting in the way and reminding me to install it. This is the first fit before blasting
Re: 265 Hemi to efi
Of course being a 45 Ute tray cut it was always going to need repair. At least it was reasonably solid. $150 for grit blasting was more palatable than a couple of hours on the stripper discs plus it came in etch primer
Re: 265 Hemi to efi
From the Earlier trial fit Which seemed like it was pretty close it was another 3 houts before I got it to a stage I was happy with. This cut was from a VH and during the VJ model they increased the height of the panel behind the seat to accomodate for a wider spare tyre so had to make up a temporary metal brake to Bend the end up to fit. Also I struggled to line up the Floor ribs so used a bit of old floor as a jig.

Reminds me of one of my early cars. A mark 2 Zephyr which had more replacement parts than original. It was my second car and first engine swap. Ah the good old days welding the rust.

Practice makes not quite perfect in my case but at least makes an improvement

I'm glade they invented e-coat.
I'm the director of VSH (Vlad's Spec Holden), because HSV were doing it ass about.
