Ignition module crapped itself the other day when I was on the way to the dyno for the final tune. Luckily i had only gone about 1 km from home and was able to turn around and get it home with about 4 stalls and restarts. There was no spark at the plugs, the MSD tested ok and determined the MSD wasn’t getting any signal. Swapped out the module for a spare and it fired up straight away. I drove it for about 30 minutes and no problems. The module is maybe two of three years old but i doubt its done 100 hours. Ebay shite.

Yes correct and Its hard finding many options for them now. I have tracked down one 'Bosch' unit on eBay but who is to know whether its genuine.

Do you have any suggestions. Cheers

Only buy them from large, reputable suppliers, eg: Burson's, Repco, Supershit, etc...

Our local repco has them on the shelf - BIM148 for $82
According to chemistry, alcohol is a solution...

I would check the induced voltage in the primary winding. The MSD might be what killed the module.

Thanks Charles, I will ask the dyno guy to check this as it is way beyond my knowledge level. But you are right it does seem like something ended the ignition module's life prematurely unless it was a dud. I was just happy that I could diagnose the fault. Ha
