Time to ask the brains trust.. Turbo 186 $11p

Post by BARBS »

Hi all,
As the title sates it is time for me to start massaging my tune before I flash it in and try starting my car.
I still have a long way to go as I have not yet fitted my ECM NVRAM or tried even flashing a tune but I have had time to start playing with a $11p tune that I would like to run in the 186.

My setup is as follows:
186 holden 6cyl.
GT3582 turbo
60lb injectors
Planning on up to 3Bar boost
'424' VR 6cyl auto PCM
VS 4L60e auto trans. 6HDD from memory.
VL400's ignition module with a missing tooth reluctor wheel

I have attached a XDF and BIN file that I think are right but can anyone please pick it apart and educate me please?
I have not set things like the spark reference angle as I have not completed my install of the reluctor wheel etc.
I understand my VE tables will be out as I have not done any adjustments as yet.
Can someone help me with the injector setup to suit siemens deka 60lb units.
Will this tune run the VS auto without issues being a VR PCM?

Thanks in advance everyone and I am looking forward to the lessons to come.

Download the kinjflow calculator which my my reckoning you should start with 0.033 if your using petrol and spark reference angle to 70 for a 6 cylinder. Hope I am right others might like to comment. I think the spark decay rate under boost is too slow as well. Again there are lots far more experienced than me on this forum. Maybe Holden 202 might like to comment he races one. Cheers

yeah the reference angle will depend on where the CAS ends up.... mine was 58 degrees :)

the 424 should run the VS auto no problems, 3 bar boost, are you planning petrol or e85 or what ?

it should be cool, im keen to see it happening :)

Thanks for the reply 202.
Ill work out the CAS mount and go from there.
Im planning on running pump fuel but with the occasional burst of NO2. 8-)
Have i selected the correct XDF and BIN files to use with my setup?

There's a thread i started on Deka 60 injector settings. Also some have ran them on stock opening times ok.
Worth looking at that before you set your VE.

Well its been a long time between posts so I thought I better update on this project.

The car made 247 RWKw at 6400rpm but I ran out of injector duty cycle, it was still making power and torque at the time. That was on E85 with 20PSI boost. I have now fitted 80lb injectors and hope to be able to rev out to 7500rpm minimum. Once I get the tune sorted I have a little bit of nitrous to add to the mix. With a 3500 stall converter, transbrake in the 4L60e, 3.7 diff gears and hopefully around 400hp at the wheels it will be interesting to see how the LJ Torana goes.

Thanks to all for your helps and ill keep you updated on future progress.

Thanks mate and yep 186 red with 12 port head. Still plenty I want to refine with it. Ill get the tune sorted, I am working on an ethanol sensor and spreadsheet that will give me AFR and spark tables based on measured ethanol, I am thinking about trying a sonic injection cam sensor, still have to tune nitrous and I plan on spending a lot of time dialling in my transmission and suspension.

Any advice on tuning a 4L60e with $11p would be greatly appreciated.
