VK commodore 202 efi conversion
VK commodore 202 efi conversion
I know this topic has been spoken about a heap of times but I can't find all the information in one hit.
I'm trying to find out if I can use a complete V6 commodore Buick or ecotec set up eg. Computer, throttle body, injectors and coil packs.
Is there any other parts needed?
Can this be done easily or is there a better way of doing it?
Thanks in advance, Jarrod

Re: VK commodore 202 efi conversion
What info can't you find?
Re: VK commodore 202 efi conversion
The parts you need because everyone seems to have a different opinion and the easiest/most cost effective way to do it
Re: VK commodore 202 efi conversion
JE Camira, LD Astra, Pulsar wiring loom (if you can get this it is the easiest way to to with less modification required).
Camira etc Distributor module
VN-VT throttle body with Throttle Position Sensor and Idle Air Solenoid.
Wire and 2 Injector plugs.
808, 082, or 305 ECU
VN-VP Commoodore Oil pressure, intake air temp, coolant temp, Oxygen, and MAP sensors.
I don't think I've forgotten anything there.
You can, if you really want to do it a more difficult way, use a VS V6 onwards PCM and get sequential injection but there's a fair bit of hassle doing that and the parts list is different.

Re: VK commodore 202 efi conversion
is the extra wire and plugs so you can wire the last 2 injectors in because the cars to get the loom from are only a 4 cylinder?
Re: VK commodore 202 efi conversion
That's the reason.
Re: VK commodore 202 efi conversion
So does that mean that there is a loom that comes out of the ecu with six plugs on it?
One for each injector?
One for each injector?
Re: VK commodore 202 efi conversion
If you get a Camira loom it will have 4 injector plugs on it, to get it to work on the 6 cylinder you connect an extra 2 wires where the others are connected. At the plug that goes into the ECM there will be 2 pins d15 and d16 that turn the injectors on and off. On 4 cylinders these wires are connected in the loom, on 6 and 8 cylinders they are separate and run to 3 or 4 injectors each.
Re: VK commodore 202 efi conversion
Ah okay, you can't use the vn-vp injectors, loom and computer?
Re: VK commodore 202 efi conversion
You can, the Camira etc use the same ECM as the VN-VP (808). The VR uses 3 different ECMs the 082 and 305 for manual trans and the 424 for autos. The 082 and 305 are just 808s with a faster baud rate.
The V6 wiring loom in the VN-VP has differences with the ignition wiring, that's why it's easier to use a 4 cylinder loom. If you use the V6 loom you'll have to do more modifications and use more parts than with the Camira loom.
You can use any injectors you want to use the thing you need to know is the injector data so you can put the information into the tune so the ECM can cycle the injectors at the appropriate rate.
