Ls1 ecu to 304 Motor

Post by wall-ace »

hi. i need so info on using a ls1 ecu on a 304 holden efi motor. i hear that people are using ls ecu, but only one ignition coil, grouped injecton, so a vn dizzy hall effect ( not a vt sequence). so im guess that they are use the vn dizzy for crank reference. and no cam signal. and setting the firing order to ever cylinder to 1.
This is the only way i can think it way work, can someone help thanks peter

Sorry I can't help out there but what's the reason wanting to run the ls1 computer ? Sounds like a lot of work when the stock computer has so much potential or even look to run the 12p or 11p code

Ive never done it but ive heard you run pcm in lo res mode , use a vt dizzy with cam sig , and tie the coil outputs together with diodes

Could the coils be connected inside the PCM case?

would that retain sequential spark and injection? Given its still receiving a cam signal.

Not sure , I think it does though.
If it does you could still use 8 coils

One tuner was offering a full 304 LS PCM conversion with coil per cylinder etc. He used to be on the SC forum a lot but forget what the outfit is. Wasn't cheap either, if I remember correctly you wouldn't get much change from $2K.

TBH there aren't that many gains other then lots of tuners know the LS PCM's.

This thread - https://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewt ... pcm#p41555 - was a dead end after the poster decided to not share info, but may have something useful still. Has a link to the V8 kit.

Can anybody tell me what does the 'low res mode' is and what it adjusts? Thanks

the ls1 ecu expects 24 crank pulses per revolution. the 304 dizzy provides 4. low res mode tells the ls1 ecu to expect 4 crank pulses per revolution.

another option would be to put a 24 tooth wheel and pickup on the 304 crank and then run the ls1 ecu straight up with no mods. depends if you are better with working metal / engine parts or better with electronics I spose.
