as the E40 is a 24x crank trigger, and the E38 is a 58x its not going to work very easily almost not possible without pulling the motor apart and replacing wheels ect

I want to run a flex fuel tune in my 2004 VZ, So just trying to find besy way to do it.
I understand that the reluctor wheels are different for each ECU.
If the E38 will plug in and communicate with the rest of the car, then upgrading to crank is worth it as we will be going fordged in the near future.

You should be able to run flex on the 1mb pcm with an american operating system. I'd look in to that rather than changing to an E40.
Have you read the FAQ? For lots of information and links to significant threads see here: http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1396

Quick google search shows people using flex fuel on a E40 its all there on every file I have opened
flex fuel pin is pin 4 on the bottom connector on the E40.

Again, Pin 4, C3
why not try that first

Was just thinking if the E38 is better suited to ethonal, then swapping this in to car would make more sence than trying to hack an E40 as It was never intededto run ethonal.

The americans ran flex on the same hardware as us in some models since the ls1 computer. Its not a hack, its a factory feature we didnt get in our market on the same platform.

Just sent an email to Dave Steck DSX Tuning, asking the question.
Here is his reply.

Dave: I’d be checking it to make sure it has the necessary flags to enable flex fuel

Hi Dave
Thanks for the reply,
I dont have the file.
Can you tell me what the file will tell you?
Thanks.

Dave: It should be. Can you send me the HP Tuners file from the vehicle?

Nathan:Hi Dave
I am looking at upgrading my 2004 HSV Clubsport.
The car ECU is an E40.
I would like to push the 1900 TSV Magnuson to around 14 PSI and run a flex fuel setup.
So before I start spending $$$ on forged parts,
I was wondering if you can tell me if my factory E40 ECU is capable of running a flex fuel tune.

Much appreciate your time.
Thanks
