Yep, It might also pay to fit slightly larger cooler lines going to and from the cooler (I assume you are going to have to make/fit new lines anyway). The later 4L60e's had bigger lines to help improve flow/cooling.The1 wrote:awesome progress there mate! Dont forget a nice big cooler on the front!

Re: Bedford CF Van
yeah im planning to probably run braided ones with speed flow ends, so can easily go larger!

Re: Bedford CF Van
Heres about the last of it, nothing special to see, just clean and new separator plate.
also some new springs in the valve body but otherwise stock.
4L60E speed sensor gear pressed onto the shaft
along with a 4L60E extension housing this resolves the difference in VSS signals when running the VR Auto PCM on the T700 box.
also has anyone seen a VR/VS VSS ..... I assume that this tab is not supposed to be bent but I am not 100% sure as I have never seen another one and this was how it was when I got it out of the donor gearbox.
just got to get a suitable converter for it, then to finish the rest of the Bedford project so I can test this gearbox out .... lol!

No messing about! Once the converter arrives hopefully no more engine/gbox removals for awhile?
Looks like the VSS hit the reluctor ring at some point in its life.

Re: Bedford CF Van
Yes it has. The trouble with the vr plastic ones is sometimes they get a bit loose in the housing or they get cooked and this is the result.

hopefully not till I make it into a 355 one day heh!VL400 wrote:No messing about! Once the converter arrives hopefully no more engine/gbox removals for awhile?
I have straightened the tab and will see if it still works .... the gearbox it came out of had a flogged out converter bush in the front of it so anythings possible in the rest of it
looking through the rear of the extension housing it runs pretty close to the gear so wouldn't take much movement to make it hit!

Re: Bedford CF Van
as you all know there is going to be almost more commodore parts in this project than Bedford ones, and not wanting to stray from that theme I have ticked off another conversion item by replacing the fuel filter with a commodore locking fuel door
some minor panel beating and it will be happy days!

Re: Bedford CF Van
hahahaha .... well the colour I like and want to paint it is Toyota Royal Blue or something like it
my first car (1962 EK Wagon) was that colour, and I loved the colour!

Re: Bedford CF Van
well other than sweating my ass off this arvo i got some good progress made!
still need to do some panel beating but need two people for that so it will have to wait till dad comes around again!
but got most of the rest of it sorted, got the inner guard in far enough and welded back up so the release mechanism fits in now, and the neck is in and fits nicely.
i also got the commodore tank roughly mounted in place of the original tank (fits reasonably well with the bedford straps!) and worked out that i need a 90 degree bend 2 inch pipe to weld into the side of the commodore tank, then it will meet up perfectly with the neck under the floor with the commodore rubber joint!
and while im out i plan to get 3 mtrs of fuel hose and some petrol so hopefully before too long we'll have a 304 running in the bedford on the VS wiring loom
