Re: Vlad's VP executive
some people prefer to run both together, keeps the ecm happy too, but you don't NEED to and can remove the narrowband o2 for tuning then replace it once finished with the wideband.
No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

Re: Vlad's VP executive
Started with the loom today. repairing a factory repair lol. what appears to be the coolant temp wire was too short so the factory added some wire to reach the plug, but ironically that piece was also too short. when I removed the loom I saw this yellow wire stretched like all hell and thought to myself " that will beak if I bend the plug"
So I used a yellow wire with contactor from the VY loom. While I was at it I added the purge solenoid wire borrowed from VY loom and plugged it into A4
that section done like factory new again but better !
That will do for today. basically starting from scratch and following the ecotec layout more or less.
All new connectors are going on this loom with resin impregnated fiberglass sleeving
wheeled the car out today for the first time in 6 months.
wheeled along like a trolley, just grabbed it by the boot lid and walked outside with it. Its so light, with some good effort you can lift the front wheels off the ground lol
need to pressure clean some areas, mainly the engine bay and fuel tank area. bloody caked in cms of crud.

Re: Vlad's VP executive
many hours of cleaning with engine degreaser I filled up on at a car wash. the stuff is that strong it fades metallic paints that do not have a clear coat.
ever seen a wheel arch this clean? not a trace of dirt. initially it was about 1-2.5cm thick of dirt and road tar mixed in.
fairly clean. its bare metal on the rail on the left. looks like brake fluid was spilt at some stage. I need to get some sort of a hand held sandblaster and clean that area up as well as the battery tray and give it a touch while we paint the car.
I also washed inside the boot and that came up a treat. It also needs paint, 6 months ago I cleaned all the rust out to bare metal so there are several large areas that are bare metal in the boot.
Just need to remove the doors and all non paintables and I can start doing some small rust repairs and rubbing it back for the primer.
Hopefully Troy and I can go get the paint tomorrow. Troy is my mate who is the expert on restoration paint jobs, but its been few years since he painted.
A practice panel sounds like a good idea lol

Re: Vlad's VP executive
did some more wiring today until I ran out of heat shrink.
ordered 6 injector plugs from the auto elect.
it is much worse that I though. half of the wiring needs replacing. there were cooked brittle and off color.
Also did some some cleaning. I was shocked how clean the under body came up near the tank area. Oh and I need a new tank, rusted through from the few Kg of dirt that was sitting on top.

Bought Bosch injector plugs locally for a fairly good price of $16.50 each. my old boss gave them to me pretty much cost price.
Degreased and pressure cleaned all the doors inside out. looks like new!
Bumper came up real nice. just needs some block sanding on the top to remove some nicks but apart from scuffing its good to go for a paint.
Window seal areas ground out with those sponge looking strip wheels. they work wonders. Each window was done in 5 min. Some block sanding and etch primer on bare metal areas. its coming up Milhouse

Re: Vlad's VP executive
I can't take all the credit. My friend Troy is helping me do the body work and painting. I am noob at painting but pretty good at prep work. So I got his help as that used to be his trade.
I help him out with mechanical stuff on his car so it all works out like a team.

Re: Vlad's VP executive
spent many hours last night cleaning the shed out, so much dirt and dust and crap that came out of the car.
then today I made a spray booth in the corner. going to keep in there clean for painting only till all the painting is done.
