ah yeah pretty normal for a briggs. I did the same to my race/burnout/wheel stand mower when I was a teen.

Yeah its pretty awesome. If I were to do it, I would get something with a Honda or Kawasaki on it, brigg are the worst heap of shit small engine of all time, I can't stress that enough.

yeah for a while before they wear out. They wear out or fail fast. can't expect much for the shit quality materials and construction. Many of the older ones have bare aluminum bores lol, non bearing'd alloy rods, and no valve guides. Even had one that had a dud cam with a mini lobe on the base circle which opened the valve slightly between normal lobe timing and lost a heap of comp as a result lol.

My 1970s Briggs going hard on my reel mower it's older than I am think I couch and weaze more than it does and I'm probably looser in the bottom end too lol
