The raptors are pretty reliable these days. There was some issues with belts years ago but its all been sorted now. The belt drive makes them more efficient transmission over oiled gears, less inertia. Other improvements are billet lighter turbine with broader map giving more charge for less rpm. Also clutched pulleys available to allow free spin on decel making less stress on the whole drive system.

oh and also water cooled housing but thats been around for a while now.

I have been very impressed with how they have turned out in recent years. Gives the other leaders on the market a run for their money for sure.
I'm the director of VSH (Vlad's Spec Holden), because HSV were doing it ass about.

PaulR wrote:Thanks alot, yes im just seting up now for more boost, ive got a smaller pulley which will spin the blower close to 60,000rpm. should see maybe 14-15psi.
also got 80lb injectors and running on e85.
Planning on running again very soon.
yeah the splits are interesting others have said that aswell, i think maybe cause the short 1st gear of the 4l60e? helps with the 60 foots.
what gearbox you running?
my combo is a turbo holden 202, running 21psi backed by a trimatic and when i did my time there it was 3.08 diff on a 24.5 inch slick, on methanol in a gemini, on WSID scales its 1066kg with me and helmet etc.

bit more boost and e85 should improve things :)

haven't been back to WSID since i ran a 10 lol! i sorta feel like its only worth going back to WSID once i can run faster and to get a proper time, in the mean time i turned the boost down and i regularly go out to Gunnedah airport drags, its improved a bit since WSID with some diff gears and few small things like that, but then dropped a lifter 6 months ago at Gunnedah, so i've just finished building new motor, and shes all ready to go for Gunnedah next weekend!

Time for an update. Ended up removing the front mount and running the blower straight in the t/b. picked up about 2 pound boost, now making about 14 pound. Also hooked up a snow performance water injection kit. Air temps are a little bit higher - up to 100 deg sometimes so ive had to pull a bit of timing. But overall pretty happy ran a new pb last night
