Cracking along dude!
Using just crewman brakes or also axles & larger wheel bearings?

Re: FX Holden Race Car Project
no its a complete VR diff and I just made brackets to mount the calipers as the crewman ones are totally different. I went with the crewman rears as for one I had them, and also they are larger, hoping that I can get more rear clamping compared to the front which has always been an issue with vt fronts and vn rears.

Re: FX Holden Race Car Project
Ah cool..yeah bigger rears help get up on stall better.
Notice more boosted guys using hydraulic handbrakes.
I've got tubbed streetcar keep thinking crewman axles with their larger bearings seem like a good idea when compared to smaller commodore brakes/bearings.

Re: FX Holden Race Car Project
yep more stall was my main reason for it plus I have 4.5 inch front tyres and 10 inch rears that will be sticky once warmed up so it makes sense to have more rear!
I saw no advantage going to the larger bearing, and in actual fact would need the entire crewman diff, and its way thicker tubing which is just more weight for no real gain in my case ....

Re: FX Holden Race Car Project
Same here my 355 vh has 15x5 & 15x10 prostars with nankang front runners...the 305/50 rears will easily turn at 2.5k when try to stall it up even though it's 8" 4500 stally
Loved the ol' B/w fpr street cars but more I look at crewman diffs the more I like them.

Re: FX Holden Race Car Project
If you want to use rear brakes instead of a transbrake nothing beats drums for holding load on the spot
If Its Got Gas Or Ass Count Me In.if it cant be fixed with a hammer you have an electrical problem

Re: FX Holden Race Car Project
The brakes are done, I'm not changing them now lol!
I finished the last of the rear brake lines last night and bleed them up, I can only turn the tailshaft to test at the moment but it works hahah!
the vn brakes were never bad, I was able to stall to 3000rpm on the two step, but I just figured while I'm building from scratch I may as well take the opportunity to get some more clamping force there that might mean I can get another 500rpm on the converter.
