I think I had that problem in firefox years ago. Embedded videos on sites and facebook either didn't play or played sound but with black screen or only played 1-2 sec of video and froze but with sound still continuing as normal.

It eventually resolved itself after a number of years. I assume it was some bug with certain PCs. Worked fine on other PCs with the same version of FF.

Youtube always worked fine in either case.
