I have been wanting to finish off under neath the car for a while now because then it can be painted and rear end etc can go back in (once diff is finished) for good.

So we hatched a plan to get the car on its side and finish off some welding/grinding then paint. So stage one of that project is now completed!

Its very cool to see the car from this angle, i've only ever seen it from a shed floor 20cm away from the floor!

Also as you can see in the back of the last picture, the new diff is ready to be shortened, before we removed the other diff from the car we took some measurements for width and it looks like the new one needs to be 60mm wider, not a lot i know, but i just couldn't live with it how it was! This also allows some clearance for if / when i go from 26 x 10 to a 28 x 10.5 or 28 x 11.5 (these are the only options from what i have now) but this will depend on how the gearing ends up over the 1/4.

Ideally a 26 x 11 would look perfect but hey, thats life.

So hopefully over the coming months i can get the underside finished, and the diff .... the diff is pretty much a matter of marking and cutting so hopefully pretty straight forward to complete that.

Dad wants to try and come over every wed night to get progress on it!

The difference in traction from 26 to 28 is massive even at the exact same width so it's good to build to allow bigger looks great under there

Nice way to park the car. It can't weight that much.

lol it was enough, between dad and i we were just strong enough to lift it onto its side!

I got a bit of time over the weekend for some progress, i got the sill fully welded on, previously it was just tacked in a few spots.

And i got the new diff measured, cut and dummied up, its ended up 65mm wider than the top one in the picture, so should be pretty good now and the joke is in the centre this time!!!

Now the diff is sorted i was able to get the last measurements i needed to be able to order some billet axles!

Looking really good there, and yeah I can see the tools on the 'shelves' there. Probably wont be too many times in the cars life you have the opportunity to work on it like that!
