Re: FX Holden Race Car Project
Just one thing I forgot Holden202T,
why shorten the diff??? You have one of the few cars where the rear guards unbolt. I would be making a wide set to accommodate the new wheels that way you can have the best of both worlds and just bolt the appropiate guard on. Heck if Peter can create this, a FX/J rear guard should not be too much to ask. Maybe I go grab the FJ shell that is down the road for a reference and start making a set for you. I need to hone my panel fabrication skills some more, might be worth while for both of us.....

Yes he does teach and I have been to one of his classes, the man is a genius and if there is interest here (Peter is in Bayswater Melbourne) then I would be happy to organise. Just depends on what people want to do, just an overview or actually teaching etc.....
cheers

Re: FX Holden Race Car Project
nope, not flaring the guards, its all going inside standard body!
Charlescrown: yes sorry i meant toe not camber! i know camber will increase with drop, thats just the way the wishbone front end works.
as it sits now i can see very obvious toe in and out as i jack it up and down, so want to try and minimise that as much as possible, and get it all sorted before i fully finish welding the steering mounts in place.
firebug: yes and no, was a few hours sunday arvo in between jobs for the boss

No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

Mate of mine bought an unfinished dune buggy and he shortened an Escort rack. The bump steer was about 40mm. It looked like something out a cartoon as you bounced it up and down. Time for some serious rethink on the design.

Re: FX Holden Race Car Project
mine is based off the v6 conversions kit for old holdens, i just measured dads kit and made my own from it, so it might not be perfect, but thats what we are going to pull it apart for an measure it all ... at the end of the day i have nothing to deal with like a road car, but i would like the wheels to stay straight if a wheel is unloaded or even off the ground

Some of those old school techiques are fast been lost which is a real shame. Tip my hat to anyone who can do that stuff.
