So i used the brace lug on the engine mount for the original ac with a spacer to get me in the ballpark with the belt, using the commodore triple pulley and lined it up with the rear of the three, still using commo p/s bracket too just chopped the a/c part off the bottom of the a/c bracket so the spacing stayed the same, the two curved bracket are original 253-308 alternator adjustment brackets cut to lenght and drilled to fit

Then using the vs alternator bracket i flipped the alt up top on its same mounting point and if you can zoom in on this pic you can see where the old cut up 253 alt brackets are mounted and used as spacers

And down low here at the front of the block, just a simple tag with a lug welded to the back to hold its position on the block out of 3 mm by 20 (i think, im tired, lol, so its mounted to the compressor on the lower left front and rear lugs and upper right front and rear lugs which the spacers and bolts aren't in the pics
Just for thought too, i have seen the original pump and bracket used on an efi headed, come twin throttle bodied 383 and the bracket bolts to the efi heads but need to swap the efi rocker covers left to right and use a hz triple pulley with the belt for air at the front, just wont work a banana manifold with where the throttle body is

Here's a frightening way to find out you need to check these old factory air setups, just about went up in flames this morning warming it up before work, smoke with a distinct smell of eucalyptus started pouring out the demister vents, disconnected heater fan (runs all the time on low speed with factory air unless completely switched off on the floor, screen, recirc switch) and off to work,
Home tonight pulled the fan and resistor out of the box and wouldnt you know it, full of dry gum leaves upto the resistor coils

Lucky you caught it before a fire started. Eucalypt just keeps burning once it has caught alight.

Here's the results of the teardown on my broken 4l60e, apparently smashing a diff and front uni can cause the low/reverse sprag clutch to crack then break on the first shift, feels like someone yanking on the handbrake as the 1-2 shift occurs, this sprag is supposed to freewheel when in second but when they break like this they sieze

Also cracked the rear planet, everything else looked good so with the help of my boss (first tranny rebuild) i added a .500" boost valve to the pump and a corvette servo, firmer springs in the 1-2 and 3-4 accumulator, ready to spend a day under the car for good friday changing the tranny back over
