Dusto's Tonner
thought id start a post for my car
its a 2003 VY tonner
I got it for a steal ($2400 with reg) about 4 years ago and was meant to be just a work hack.
its turning into more then a run around now,
picked up a L67 for it for a bit extra power as the eco was tired
then the bug bit, 3.4inch pulley went on, and after owning a LS3 with a big cam this didn't really turn me on at all, so the big injectors came as well as memcal burner.
Fill the tank and start tuning with e85, seat of the pants I'm starting to see potential.
so on the bench i have some ported heads, stage 2 cam, rockers, LS TB, LS3 maf, extractors etc, LET THE FUN BEGIN!
more pics as i go,
here are some pics of the heads, not sure about the port job,

Re: Dusto's Tonner
looking for feedback on weather to match port and how big to make the exhuast port,
in the bowls etc looks pretty good and even, not to hogged out,
also should i get them decked to up the comp with e85, or should i just feed it more boost?
Turbo wont be coming to far away,
add to the list of stuff on the bench
Wastegate
Intercooler
welding rods, steel plate and steam pipe bends
busy morning lapping valves

Re: Dusto's Tonner
not much point machining the heads, even with flat top pistons the max you can get is about 10.5, with thinner gaskets and machined heads you can get close to 11:1 but you'd struggle to even reach that.
As a suggestion I'd get the US banana manifold and pulley/accessory setup and that will give you good gains as the aussie on even fully ported to paper thin is still useless. It also means you can have front mount throttle that's also much larger. You can buy brand new US LIM for about 100 bucks. Top section you are better off getting the alloy series 3 used as you can't buy them new and the plastic variant is shit.

i cant seem to find the banna style intake with a forward facing TB, there are Camaro intakes but i dont think thats what you meant
Camaro intake

Banana Style?
Facing to the rear of engine in FWD cars
is there another banana style upper manifold thats to suit a RWD car because i cant find anything yet

No it doesn't, not without a ton of machining....vlad01 wrote:you just spin it around. they fit both ways.
According to chemistry, alcohol is a solution...

Re: Dusto's Tonner
any one got pics from trying it?
where would it need machining ar'nt the heads the same, so it must be where it sit in the valley?

Re: Dusto's Tonner
Doesn't clear the timing cover and water pump, there are several water galleries and EGR ports that require blocking off (welding up), the thermostat housing comes out at the wrong angle.
This isn't a beginners mod.
