I took this car out to the track on the weekend, with quite good results.

The new fuel system worked much better than the old, with nearly no problems. In the last session of the day I noticed that it was a bit short of fuel under the highest Gs (around 1/3rd of tank remaining), so it looks like the surge tank will need to go back all. All in all, much more power and more consistent than last time.

The last session of the day, open track, and pushing a bit too hard to verify the limits I had set for myself earlier. Best time 1:24.

An earlier session, more traffic, slower times but more interesting to watch:

The re-plumbing of the breather pipes seems to have worked well, BUT the initial issue is now diagnosed. Im getting some head lift and the oil is coming out the front of the engine between the head and the block. Its not been touched for 10 years, so Ive bought a torque wrench and valve cover gasket, so first check will be if its still torqued down enough. If thats not it the head will be coming off to take a look. Its am MLS gasket so Im hoping its a simple fix.

The car has been off the track for a while, while I helped my mate with his shitbox rally car https://www.shitboxrally.com.au/ and his AMF car https://www.adelaidemotorsportfestival.com.au/ but some time has been invested in getting this beast running again. Im happy to report that we pulled the cams out and were able to re-torque the head bolts with nothing breaking.

It seems I marked the CAS location on 2 bits of metal that dont move, and on re-assembly it was a no start but it didnt take much to find the alignment procedure and get that sorted. The car has since moved under its own power. I also managed to snap the key in the boot off brushing past it, so made it up this handle. It aint pretty but its functional and infinitely more strong than what came before it.

The intention is to hit up the Mallala practice day on the 18th of August. The day of work is approved and the car is a runner, so hopefully it wont be so long until the next update.

Oh yeah, Ive put some proper spark plug tube seals in there too (not pictured), and replaced the sponge super flow trust air filter which pretty much disintegrated when we tried to clean it :wtf:
