VR SS soon to be vortech blown 355

Post by RVK355 »

this is my VR SS, my old man first bought this car brand new and it was a auto, i used to get dropped off to high school in it, then i bought it off him back in 2006 where it stayed pretty much stock except for a 5speed conversion using a VR manual computer and loom, pretty straight forward conversion, have also added some auto meter water temp, oil pressure and voltage gauge.

I had been on the look out for a complete vortech side mount set up for it, but they are starting to get a bit rare these days to find, i came across a complete set up this time last year, so the plan was to bolt it onto the stock 5L and get it going.

well we all know how plans change and get out of control, one thing lead to another and now i have a complete forged built 355 for it.

harrop crank with dual key way cut into the snout, scat pro I beam rods, CP forged low comp pistons, billet 4bolt main caps with front and rear caps that i drew up in solidworks and hand cnc machined up, block is a VS block that's been grout filled, ported VN heads, ferra valves, all new springs collets and retainers set up to suit a solid blower grind cam, yt rockers, keeping the stock banana manifold, but i cut the base out to get inside and port the manifold.

most likely going to put it on a diet of E85 and looking into flex fuel option so can still run on pump fuel.

before and after pics of the banana manifold cut open and ported, by doing this allows the runners to be opend up and blended into the plenum and also can get inside to open up the front neck of the manifold

Nice. Getting rare to see a good clean/straight example these days that hasn't been heavily molested body wise.

E85 will help with the oven like properties of the banana's manifold.

you could run WTA, that way it's easier to run water hoses to a front exchanger without needing to cut anything. Water hoses are much much smaller than IC piping.
I'm the director of VSH (Vlad's Spec Holden), because HSV were doing it ass about.
