alloy heads.

can you change any of the pullys for alloy ones?
are the aftermarket balances lighter?

lol, if he had money? you have no idea how much his current heads cost. I wont say but certainly a lot more that the alloy heads haha.

The alloy heads are nice, but unlikely to perform as good as his ones, unless the current heads were modeled in CAD and CNC porting transferred to the alloy heads?

Anyway the do drop off 15.7 ish Kg from the engine.

if you could run aftermarket V6 engine, the TA performance engines weigh in at 129Kg in complete form. ecotec 178Kg and pre eco 190Kg with acc.
I'm the director of VSH (Vlad's Spec Holden), because HSV were doing it ass about.

Not sure what roll cage you're running, but the weight of these can vary a lot. A good quality chrome moly one can be significantly lighter than a cheap steel one.

You'd hope it was already removed been a racer.

Some of those 20% OD pulleys would be the go, save a just a little weight and reduce parasitic loss on the engine.

Manual steering rack.

If the car is caged which includes tying in the front struts you could possible lighten the K frame somewhat. I have seen one where there were large diameter holes drilled through it.

Have you weighed those alloy wheels and compared to a simple pressed steel rim? Most alloy wheels aren't actually that light.

Possibly change the front suspension to a coil over design, you'd save a couple of kilo's per spring for sure. also possibly use some VT style brakes and use rotors with alloy hats (DBA 5000 series).

Has the dash been removed with all the associated brackets?

What sort of race seat does it have?

Are you comparing apples with apples when you say the front runners are circa 1000kg? Have you looked to see what they are doing to loose weight?

Gut the door panels, only have the alloy sheet over the drivers door for safety.

Which diff are you using (large or small Salisbury or BW)?

Also, what rear suspension are you using? Considered doing a proper rear coil-over design and replace the standard lower pressed steel arms with a tubular arms

Alloy tail shaft ,remove the engine balance shaft
broke an alloy one (twisted) and balance shaft long gone

Its steel (not cheap) but thats a great idea
Some of those 20% OD pulleys would be the go, save a just a little weight and reduce parasitic loss on the engine.

Manual steering rack.
Only running alternator and power steering ATM, the power steering is going to electric, Manual steering not an option for suspension setup (too heavy)
Have you weighed those alloy wheels and compared to a simple pressed steel rim? Most alloy wheels aren't actually that light.
Only slightley heavier than steel, but Im sure that once a bead lock is added they would be a lot heavier

What exhaust are you running
Can you drill some material out of the in side of the door panels?
Are the windows being used? can you remove some of the gear that moves them up and down?
Im guessing the AC is gone? what about power steering?
You could drill some of the cast mounts on the motor in select places but that starts to get a bit desperate in weight saving
If you have a vs ecotec you could change the fuel rails to the vt vx vy ones but again thats stuff all weight

got some pics of the bay might give some ideas.
Exhaust is straight out the left side with 2 hotdog mufflers, has power steering but that is going to electric, See pics for A/C

Damn, you have done a decent job on that indeed.

I'd concur and say you largest weight savings now would by a molly cage instead of steel.

Get rid of that bonnet strut and hinges, just lift the bonnet of completely when you need to work on the engine. A carbon fibre bonnet would save a few kg's for sure.

Run without the passenger seat etc
