Enhanced maf tune to 12p way out of range

Post by Wade »

Ok so after playing back a few logs and grabbing the map ve and spark it’s clear it won’t work. The ve starts out in the 20’s at idle but by 100kpa it’s just over 100. But by 2bar it’s its up around 180’s so I can’t just offset it. It’s up over 100 all the way through the boosted map and with the timing a lot of it’s in the negative range under boost. Any ideas?

I'm not sure what your trying to do there ? make a VE table from a MAF tune ?

from what I can see of the second picture your axis has rpm and map reading from the map sensor on pin a5, but then the actually data in the cells is the map reading also ?

I think you copied the items over from an ADX I made awhile ago to calculate the VE for MAF PCMs? It calculated VE a couple of different ways, maybe something got messed up when copying items over. There were LOTS of linked items and calcs.

Yep exactly what I’m trying to do. Do you have a link to that adx vl400? I found the pressure transducer spread sheet that you made, and used that to calculate the 2bar map to a psi reading. I tried making a new adx last night and spent like 6+ hours on it. But than I went back through it and a few things I’d added were missing and disappeared. Is there a limit or something to how many things can be added in an adx?

Vl400 I also notice in one of the1’s posts you talked about the adx you made. Also mentioned you created a spread sheet for that also? If it’s not to much trouble can you please send me both

Also in 12p, it won’t let you set and save negative timing values. Even a stock ecotec runs negative timing values so what’s the way around that?

I think Holden202T did it best on the ecotec.... That was install a MAP sensor in a spare input then drive the car so that the logs have both maf data being used to run the car, and you can map the MAP input to a history table to calculate what its reading at different load points. Then use the history table as a starting point for the MAP tune. I think he used the injector monitor line. See this thread viewtopic.php?f=7&t=331

I've tuned Ecotec on 12P with positive timing values across the board.

yeah its a hard one, you can really only get half decent timing map with a map sensor, I know when I put the ecotec into the torana I just started with a VR tune and adjusted it to stop pinging etc, it needed less timing than the VR motor, but the fuel was out rich down low and lean up high from memory .... not sure how much of that was my exhaust though ... super 6 is going to be a different thing again too.

VL400's calcs might be the only option to get an form of usable VE table .... you could also try plotting injector pulse widths or something, while the values wont be a VE value it will more than likely give you a similar shape table to work with ....
