My Daily, 75 HJ Ute

Post by Macca97 »

brought it off a scrappy when i was 14, spent 2 yrs on it, got it on the road, now im 19,

pics will come soon
will never be finished, painted it cyan blue, (paint is already showing its age as we did it outside on a shit day)

202 4speed 3:08 bang-go ;), just put a 3rd 202 in, as the first one just didnt go very well, 2nd one, went really well, until it spun a bigend or bigends, crazy bottom end knock, had loads of comp, standard valves with abit of port work, max timing was around 25-26degrees, any more and it started to ping, small cam, full noise was around 4500, than nosed over, and 34adm weber, AFR's were spot on. between 13 and 12.5 at WOT, still kept up with a mates 265 vg val,
now onto its 3rd, a stock worn out 202 black motor just to keep me on the road

plan is in the next few weeks, get all the parts, to throw a 253 4speed in, since with the new p plate laws in nsw, i can have a v8, and its sitting here aha, and i might just get to over take the 265
why have one 202, when you can have 12 and counting, 30+ car graveyard just for fun aswell

got almost everything to put the 253 in, brought a nice big shiny alloy radiator for it, and i had the aim to run a themo or themo's, and since im a tight ass, i though id make some fit instead of buy some, so i tried, vn-vs, vt ones, and didnt look right, so went for a walk up the paddock, ahhh n16 pulsar, 2 big themo's, measured up, outer edge is just slightly bigger than the core, beauty, sat them on the radiator, and they were almost made to fit, they're also 2 speed, so they'll be hooked up to a temp switch (92c on 87c off) running an 82c themostat and also a manual switch, so if one is on and not the other its (low speed) but still lots of air, and when both switches are on, it tries to take of across the shed floor, so hopefully they'll keep the baby v8 cool in the hot temps, just need to finish the mounts off, put the carby back together and it should be ready to put in next weekend.

macca sounds awesome dude. you wanna see about grabbing a 808 and getting that 253 running on it! get an elbow and run the throttle body with all the gear on it, sort out an ignition feed using a vn v8 dizzy etc and you're in business man. be great to see some pics too.

the initial plan was to efi the hot 6 that died, but that idea went, but will still do an injected 6 but will be forced induction.... belt driven mostlikely, for the hotrod, early dodge pick up, i acquired somehow

efi 253 would be cool, have to see what it goes like first,

will get pics of everything soon, im guessing photobucket would be the best way to post them here?

yeah photobucket is what i use. works ok.

253 probably won't go much better than your 202 to be honest. will sound like a v8 though :)
i wanted to EFI a 253 some years back. but had nothing for it to go into.

If Im not mistaken the 253/308 block will accept heads from a 304? If thats the case EFI ftw! bolt on style.
I'm the director of VSH (Vlad's Spec Holden), because HSV were doing it ass about.

Yeah but the heads flow to much for a little 2fluffy3, I beleive the valves come close to the bored as well. At the end of the day just 304 or bigger is better ftw

yeah I've heard the same that the bores are too small, and you will also need a 304 cam for it to I believe ?

either way I agree, a 202 would be better than the 253 ;)

Don't like to say it but the 253 was a dog and didn't go. Stick with the 202 or go 5L.
