E38 - Security Link Code

Post by Tre-Cool »

So i got an ecm in the other day that apparently had been re-linked into a car & flashed but car wouldnt start still.

So i pull tune out & notice that security isn't active & the serial number is all messed up, from that alone i realize the dealership or someone has flashed an invalid OS over the top of what was originally there.

So i managed to use tazzi's tool and used a good known bin file from another ecu using the clone option, but I'm curious to know where in the bin file the security linking numbers would be.

Attached is a picture of the good new bin file vs the corrupt original one on the right, is the highlighted address correct?
OS-Difference
OS-Difference
OS is 12633016

Cheers

Yeah that looks good.
But I believe there might be other security data that moves too, since changing only that number doesnt seem to complete the job from my past experiences.
