VN S1 V6 m62 9PSI bin file

Post by tris909 »

ok thought I would post this up now after months of tinkering, please feel free to give any feedback on tune. it has all been tuned on dyno and road with wideband and knock ears.
engine specs
VN v6 series 1 Manual
M62 supercharger running 9psi boost
1.8:1 rockers
extractors and 3inch exhaust system with twin cats
80mm throttle body
tuned on 98RON engine is fresh (approx. 60,000kms)
mild cam unsure of specs
32lb injectors

Currently makes 187rwkw with 457nm of torque @ 4,900rpm, all power signs off at around 5,100rpm due to the size of the blower strangling the motor for air in high revs. have done approx. 3,000km with no issues so far on this tune.

thought this may be a good start for anyone else with this similar setup. like I said feel free to provide any opinions. This is just a base start for this similar positive displacement setup.

XDF-OSE12P V111- 1,2 and 3 bar

good work :)

what duty cycle are the injectors at on this tune ? do you have log of a WOT run or dyno pull you can post up ?

not to sure, will do a WOT log this weekend sometime to put up, closed now over Christmas but will get a fresh dyno run in the new year and put up. like any positive displacement setup with no intercooler power with each day/run varies a lot, we have seen on this car a constant 180rwkw yet on a second run with nice crisp air (coolish day 18degrees) we had it pull a 201rwkw once, but never got to see the 200rwkw mark again after that, heat soak is a bitch  . stoked with how it has come out and it couldn't have happened without this forum.

positive displacement chargers are a bitch as they are very inefficient. They generate so much heat as they compress the air and suck up heaps of power just to run.

Perhaps its worth looking at a intercooler from MACE. He has ones that sandwitch between the charger and manifold.
I'm the director of VSH (Vlad's Spec Holden), because HSV were doing it ass about.

Thanks for sharing  Got a very nice result out of the small M62.

Few little things I noticed...
Map B has the wrong MAP sensor selection flags (both set which is not valid)
The 100kPa columns of Vac and Boost tables should be the same to smooth the transition between the tables
BLMs and lean cruise are still turned off
Closed loop coolant temp is 100deg

no intercooler sandwich available for this blower which is a pain  but just happy with torque :)

just had a look at tune in tuner pro and good spot VL400 thankyou. it is a 2 bar map sensor on it, still haven't turned on BLMs and lean cruise due to tuning difficulties with this engine same with it going into closed loop. at WOT its running around 11.0:1 to 11.8:1 afr so yeh its rich but only for the timing I have in it, believe it or not we had up to 29degrees of timing into it a WOT which was pushing the limits with no detonation ahaha.
still haven't had a fresh dyno run or log sorry guys haven't had a chance this weekend with crap weather here in gippsland and this crazy time of year. but as soon as I get a chance this week I will post them up

updated BIN file fixed a few little things.

ok so did a short log just before, ambient temp was around 27degrees. run was done in 2nd gear. note knock retard value showing is due to rocker/lifter noise, I have not yet disabled the knock sensor but will have to if this keeps up. have pulled out up to 18 degrees of timing (hardly run) and still same result, so I think it will most likely have to be disabled. again any feed back would be great.

ok so another update, after going through previous log I have noticed that most ignition timing was still being pulled out at WOT through the rev range, I have since lowered the esc maximum retard to 4degrees as well as lowering the ignition timing map tables by 4degrees from 1200rpm to 3600rpm. previous log showed 19.3degrees at WOT, i now have 22degrees at WOT and no timing is being pulled out. engine is much happier, no stumble when pulling up from speed due to lack of timing. will put up another log today.
