The newer bins have it as part of the catalytic convertor protection to stop from cooking them.
Typically, the longer in PE the lower the AFR gets trying to keep the cats cool.

i was of the impression that running the engine excessively rich can melt the cat ... so obviously that is not correct then

Just updated my vl 5.0 lt to v111 but had to use v6 blcd bin and flash migrated v110 cal as the blcf v111 bin is actually just a cal file even though it is 32k.

That explains why I could not get it working on the bench, fortunately the stacked bin did work.

Regarding Holden202's comment.

Unburnt Hydrocarbons (fuel) is bad and cause problems, running rich lowers exhaust gas temperatures to try and protect the cat. Obviously if you go too rich the all the fuel is no longer being burnt.
Where the problem arises, if too rich and fuel not burned then unburned fuel can reach the cat and and burn in there increasing temperatures. The same can happen with a faulty spark or large overlap cams where a lot of fuel ends up in the exhaust.

Just upgraded from V100 to V111 and now my wideband A/F calibrations are wrong when logging. Have not seen a way to correct this. Anyone else had this problem. I am not using Tunapro for logging. I am using my DST.

Adjust "VE Learn Params - WideBand 0v AFR" and "VE Learn Params - WideBand 5v AFR" to suit your wideband. And in your logging software the equ is X/10.

@Kojab: Did I read somewhere you have a trail version of your DST? I had a look around your site but couldnt turn it if. If there is one and it can work with 12P, can you provide a link? I would like to have a play with it and see what its like.
