I'll have to check my docs, but I think it can. When the Type jumper is set to J the cylinders are selected from the other NVRAM jumpers, when M is selected then it does use the memcal. The knock filter on the memcal is always used. If you have the nvram set to M and had the wrong memcal connected then you tune might give very incorrect fuelling when you transfer it to the correct memecal.

I have had that before, I used to use an emulator and found there were 2 different brown bases in the Vn-VP memcal and the fueling did go out of whack from one to the other. I did think with the jumper set to M that it used the memcal and it is the same memcal I put the burned chip into, sounds like I should try the eprom in the correct V8 memcal and see if that works.

Cheers

when you start logging (engine must be running) there is a number of cylinders in the datastream, which directly indicates the number of cylinders set in the nvram/memcal. maybe take a peek of that in both scnarios and see what netres its detecting.

Ok, So I have the car back. It runs fine on the NVRAM with the jumper selected to M, my understanding is that's memcal. I remove the nvram and compare the nvram to my file and it verifies. i am using a delco 808 Memcal with a 256 k chip fitted. Are you guys using a vr-vs manual memcal with the 11P. When I fit the memcal with Eprom not NVRAM into the tuning ecu I can log and can confirm 8 cylinders selected, I can also see no faults logged just very lean mixtures. I'm wondering if the issue is the 808 vn style memcal. Do I need to use a VR-VS manual memcal?

Cheers guys

11P needs a 512k eprom.

Sorry I've moved onto $12p in and old thread. Sorry. It's an 808 ecu with $12P using an 808 v8 memcal with a 256k chip installed. Runs fine on the NVRAMs with memcal on the piggyback but not on the memcal with the same verified file. Thinking it's the netres chips are different and I need a black body Vr-Vs manual memcal.

Cheers

You can test the netres with a multi meter. V8 on a V6 memcal will probably go rich due to firing injectors more frequent.

if your using the memcal on the side and have M selected then it should be using its netres anyways ... so i don't see how its a memcal issue ?

That was my thought too. Move the memcal from the piggyback straight to the ecu and its lean. The file is the same, it verifies on my programmer.

Put the nvram on j and try 6 and 8. If it runs better with the wrong setting its mistuned for the wrong netres. Either way please start a new thread with a brief description of where your at next post to keep this one on topic for general 11p questions.
