12p 808 082 auto vs manual

Post by Wade »

On the 808 upgraded to run 12p. I think I remember reading something about the ecu being able to recognise if it's running an auto or manual transmission. If that's correct, does it change any of its operating functions. Also on a 082 running 12p can it still determine the same thing?. I think Dylan pointed out that there's differences between the auto and manual bins. in my case running a 082 with 12p and a t5 vss through a th400 auto, would I need to change any scalers or tables to suit if it can't recognise the actual transmission in use. I done a comparison between 12p and 11p and found there is a lot of difference. And not sure if it's related to auto vs manual or just different tune.

12P is derived from a $12 program from the VR series. $12 are a manual program in the VR but use the same ECU style as the earlier VN-VP. 11) is derived from a $11 program from the VR range becuase the 4L60E required PCM control. I'm happy to be corrected but I think $12, and therefore 12P, are basically extensions of earlier programs with more resolution and some added functions.

In the earlier programs the only operating functions that changed was with regards to idle, from what I can tell of 12P it is the same.

That's correct it gets an input from the the T bar to say it's in park/ neutral to set different idle speeds for an auto. That's all. Same in $12 and older VN code.

Thats correct. The logs show auto when the computer sees the signal from the auto selector. If its missing it says manual in the data list view of the logs and doesnt apply the idle changes based on gear selector. The 082 has built in high speed aldl so needs an aldl interface whereas the 808 doesnt and needs ecu comms hardware but otherwise they are identical and do function the same. The 12P software is the latest most refined code which runs on that hardware, upgraded further by us. 11P and a 424 computer is needed for the 4l60e trans, but the hydrolic auto trans is fine to run with 12P.
