Re: E85 L67 fuel economy
Found I needed less timing pretty much everywhere to get MBT compared to 98. It was only when I was fuel knock limited on 98 at higher loads and/or boost that I could get more spark in there. You are certainly running some VERY aggressive advance in low load areas, if the values are correct then Id say this is a fair part of your economy issue. I hope you are not tuning to knock sensor feedback?dusto wrote:im a bit lost on where i should be looking as far as ignition timing goes, ill get it on a dyno soon to get MBT figured out etc
Economy with my 4L V8 turbo is around 30-40% worse than when on 98. Could get 10L/100km on a mixed urban drive, now its closer to 13-14L/100. On really suburban and short drives closer to 20, cold starts and short trips is a killer along with the right foot.
Id also check that your wideband does not have an offset in the readings. If you can get a narrowband hooked up and running in closed loop should see the wideband switching around stoich.

Re: E85 L67 fuel economy
yeah i went nuts with the timing i have it much lower now, and got my tune a bit closer, i was thinking about the narrow band to check the offset, im around 20l/100 and 15 on the highway now most of my driving is short distance and stop start not an ideal setup, ill get the narrowband sorted and closed loop can take car of it, once i get my heads and cam in ill get her on a dyno and go for mbt,
it felt really toey with the tune with all that timing

I reckon address 0x4C47 needs to be set to your new stoich value, its not defined in the XDF.
Its currently set to 0x6F (1638.4/111 decimal=14.76 AFR). Change it to 0xA7 (1638.4/9.8 = 167 decimal) and it should work. If 9.8 is not what you are using for stoich adjust to what you want.

Re: E85 L67 fuel economy
Got it all sorted just need to set floating point instead of integer.
All is good, time to go for a drive and check the data against the WB now
ive put stock timing tables back in and just taken 5 deg out in the lower cells, this will have to do until i get it on the dyno,

Re: E85 L67 fuel economy
my wide ban seem to be about .255 on average compared to the narrow bands in closed loop idle i see 9.54 AFR (E85eq ratio) so its reading about 2.5% richer then it really is

Re: E85 L67 fuel economy
15L/100 is not too bad on e85, is the going rate still about $1.40 ?
No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

yeah its been a 1.39 for as long as i have been using it, never changes like petrol prices, i was around 27l/100 so thats shit house, ive managed to tweak things and can get around 20l/100 if im carefull around town and down to 15l/100 if im sitting on 100 kmph
98 is like 1.70 ATM here,
