can anyone explain why my timing drops from 14 degrees to as much as -11 deg when i crack the throttle to about 40%, VS v6 auto, in neutral. No sign of KR. Tia.

Re: retarded
could be the burst knock function?
Or what I had on the dyno the other day, a coolant temp/ spark offset table. It retarded the timing by about 3-5º across the board once the coolant temps got close and beyond 100c.
I zero'd out that table and also the EST enable temp to max as for some reason it was also pulling 6º in the form of knock retard even though the installed knock sensor flags were unchecked and the ignore table was maxed out. This was in 11P and for some reason a lot of setting were misbehaving but I am pretty sure I know why now.
Anyway I think in enhanced code it should be burst knock or maybe IAT/spark offset table or something like that.

I'm the director of VSH (Vlad's Spec Holden), because HSV were doing it ass about.

Re: retarded
thanks for the reply. i have zero'd a few things but nothing to do with knock as there is no knock. I will try that tomorrow though.

Re: retarded
Burst Knock is applied by the PCM on sudden large throttle movements to prevent knock from occurring at a low RPM.

Re: retarded
You dont zero burst knock out. Use the scaler and max it out. If its set high enough itll never reach that operating temp and therefore never activate. The coolant based timing offsets youll find in the spark tables. Theres also ones for intake air temp
