Hi,
I have never tuned anything, nor really researched until recently.
I have a VY V6 manual Ute. I want to turbo it. My question is, what is the first step to tuning?
What do I need to buy? (starting from scratch)
Thanks guys,
Sorry I want to learn as it would be handy to understand for future projects.

Tre-Cool ... I rolled out of my chair on that one!
How brutally honest though ...
Mattyb,
All I can say is start simple and take it one bite at a time!
Biting off too much will cost more money and less education ...

Yep. There are a few other threads that begin with the same question too. You'll need to decide if you want to repin the loom and swap to a vt computer and run the factory supercharged tune as a starting point, or keep the vy na pcm and flash in the1's enhanced file to allow it to support boost. There are pros and cons both ways, only the vt computer supports pcm nvram for realtime tuning. You need an aldl interface either way. Also a lot of patience and time to read to get the background knowledge you'll need.
Have you read the FAQ? For lots of information and links to significant threads see here: http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1396
