IAC response 12p
IAC response 12p
Hi,
I'm running 12p on my S14suupercharged VN V6 S1.
Other IAC is sitting in the mid 20s while idoling around 700rpm.
When I put it in gear the rpm drops to low 600rpm and the IAC climbs to 196 with no response from the rmp.
This is also presenting a problem for cold starts and even warm starts
I have completed the checks from the workshop manual and checked all wires are correct and conducting.
It has a new IAC valve.
Can the IAC be raised higher than 196?
What other problems could be the cause of this?

Re: IAC response 12p
Have you confirmed the IAC is working by running diagnostic mode and listening for the IAC running? Should be making a clicking/buzzing noise with the ignition on and engine off.
I'm the director of VSH (Vlad's Spec Holden), because HSV were doing it ass about.

Hi Kingsley
196 steps is the max motor position.
Is the IAC port blocked/ was the old motor working?

I haven't tried that but will give it a go. Can I just plug another IAC motor in and test the function is free air?vlad01 wrote:Have you confirmed the IAC is working by running diagnostic mode and listening for the IAC running? Yes, but you can hear it clearly installed
Don't forget reset procedure.
"When the ECM decides to reset the IAC, the actual reset procedure takes place when the engine RPM first goes above 2000, after the ignition has been "off" for at least 10 seconds."

Yes, but it will spit the plunger out if you do that assuming its working , hard to put it back in later.Kingsley wrote:I haven't tried that but will give it a go. I will try the listen test while in diagnostic mode.
Re: IAC response 12p
In diagnostic mode it should cycle in and out continuously, you can't miss it.

Re: IAC response 12p
Cool this thread is up been wondering if mine had dud IAC or TPS...totally forgot can check it that way.
Mine doesn't idle up on cold start just sits at same rpm neutral or in gear whether it's cold or warmed up.
Doesn't kick down at WOT 60-70km/h so guessing may as well change TPS unless something in the tune.
