Re: Tuning for E10 ?
We don't have e85 here unfortunately. The odd petrol stations carry it but at a huge premium.

Re: Tuning for E10 ?
then i reckon stick to 98 octane especially if your boosting!
No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

Re: Tuning for E10 ?
We tune mostly with 95 it's good enough for most cars. We just did a commodore imported from aussie that was on e85 made the exact some 309rwkw and perfectly overlaying power curve on 95 as it did on e85 20 minutes earlier all be it with less timing the bosses turbo ls1 went 480rwkw on 91 pick a fuel tune it and drive haha
If Its Got Gas Or Ass Count Me In.if it cant be fixed with a hammer you have an electrical problem

Re: Tuning for E10 ?
The benefit would come down to does the 95 with 10% ethanol provide greater cooling allowing for more power over straight 98. where you knock limited with your tuning previously?
I reached MBT before knock the first time I hit the dyno but I did have a cooler.
If I remember correctly your car is modified but uncooled?

Re: Tuning for E10 ?
Yup. 3.2" pulley with 5% OD balancer, only has the insulator under the blower and good CAI which helps to keep those IAT's in check.
Never been on the dyno, just road tuned. I did have issues when I originally ran it on 95 although we did eventually discover a sick injector so that may have been why it was getting knock retard.
Right now e10 98 from Gull is cheaper than 95 or 98 from any of the other major retailers, about $20 per week cheaper less the little bit of lost economy.

Re: Tuning for E10 ?
That's one thing I like about E10, it's just enough to keep knock in check on hot days and way cheaper than 98 or 95 which makes quite a difference when you drive 300Km a day most days for work. The 5% worse economy is negligible compared to the saving at the register.
I save about 2K a year by using E10 or 91 over the premium fuels. I do use 98 in my non daily drives though.

I'm the director of VSH (Vlad's Spec Holden), because HSV were doing it ass about.

Well that's a good setup to test if there is going to be a gain or not.immortality wrote:Yup. 3.2" pulley with 5% OD balancer, only has the insulator under the blower and good CAI which helps to keep those IAT's in check.

Re: Tuning for E10 ?
Right now I honestly have no idea what the IAT's are as I haven't logged the car with the latest alterations. I lent my cable to a mate and still not got it back yet Probably buy another when Garth gets more parts.
