Re: Coms issue on windows 10
Is the driver installed, does Windows 10 show the Comport for the device ??
If you have unknown, damaged or unmanaged ports you can review/clean them with the following steps,
For Windows versions less then 10.
Select: View
Select: Show hidden devices
In the Device Manager Tree view,
Expand: Ports (COM & LPT)
On any ports you want to remove,
Select: Right Click
Select: Uninstall
In the Confirm Device Uninstall dialog,
Un-Check: Delete the driver software for this device
Select: Ok
The next time you plug the device in, it will re-install ...
I personally Uninstall all virtual COM ports and just allow them to reinstall in the specific order I plug the devices back in ... That way I get what I want on the ports I want them on.

You need a VCP (virtual com port) driver for your usb interface. Assuming your interface is plugged in and running then you either have no drivers loaded, or have the wrong type.

Re: Coms issue on windows 10
Always helps to install the proper drivers so they can create a proper Virtual Communications Port for the device ...

Re: Coms issue on windows 10
It shouldnt hurt, but on a normal out of the box windows PCs the default driver for the OS loads and includes the VCP support, so no user driver install is required. *Sometimes* 3rd party software changes defaults though and the above needs to happen.
