Ive got a new project in the works with a mate, and we are currently at the planning stage. Ive got some ideas about it but thought I'd post em up here for feed back.
The engine is an old Nissan L20 2L 6 cylinder, factory EFI Turbo, but strangely not even with a crossflow head.
Its come with A46-00 injectors which are low impedance 180cc/min type. Quite small (as is the individual cylinder size) and not suitable anyway due to the impedance. Its got a reluctor distributor as far as I know so that should be ok.
So what Im thinking is just putting some standard VN or camira injectors in there, which I guesstimate will be enough for say 8 pounds of boost as the cylinder capacity is smaller than either of those engines, and because they'll matching the injector offset tables in the factory GM tunes.
Anyone think they wouldnt be up to the task?
Any ideas where to get a base spark map that'd suit this engine?

Re: New project: Nissan L20 EFI Turbo engine
i had one of them went great with the boost hose off
your gonna need some good injectors if you plan to up the boost 14psi puts 89% more air in the engine over N/A.i never got to getting the ecu out and checking if it was just a box of resistors or if it ran an eprom if it does getting a spark map should be no worries.idle and cruise spark you can get with a timing light and axle stands and pen and paper
If Its Got Gas Or Ass Count Me In.if it cant be fixed with a hammer you have an electrical problem

if you can find a way to get load on the engine while you are standing in the engine bay... you should be able to use one of those wind back timing lights to get the crank degrees at certain rpm/load points. ive used that method on a mechanichal dizzy to get a base map at WOT but its easier coz I just pulled the vacuum hose off the dizzy to get it to run its WOT spark map the revved it to each rpm point and read back the degrees with the dial back timing light.
edit: ^^ lol didnt read the last sentence of delcowizzids
same idea hehe

Nice project
The inj will get you started but will prob run out of fuel - a 2:1 rising rate reg might be enough but would certainly just try the cheap 19lb/hr commo inj and if need be change to something bigger.
Might be some megasquirt L20s you could get a spark map from.

six_shooter may have spark maps that are close
his engine is nearly the same thing in his 240Z
