Ok so after alot of reading and trying to get my head around things im still unsure of what is exactly needed to start off with.
What i want to do is read and re-map the ecu of a vs v6 commodore with an auto to a t5. A replacement chip called a NVRAM is needed for real time tuning is that correct? Also to plug into a laptop and use tunerpro RT what cable is needed to plug into the OBD2 port?
Cheers Matt.

For a vs you can use an nvram and aldl interface to tune and log it...
USB comms interface - https://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=622
NVRAM - https://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=166
Gives you full logging and tuning over the vehicle data interface under the steering column
