VR VS VT Bin ID tool

Post by antus »

Heres a tool to ID 64k and 128k commodore bin files, by program type and revision. This should be enough to find the right XDF for any VR/VS/VT bins you have. Source code and windows command line executable are provided. Feel free to use this code as a starting point to create a gui based tool.

Source compiles with gcc on any platform supported by gcc, including linux or windows with MinGW from http://www.mingw.org/

Usage:

id CJDN.BIN

or

id *.bin

Heya guys,

I've tried to use the id tool to identify my bin (see attached), and it is showing $A5D, which according to the https://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=270 page, is an LPG model. It definitely is a petrol car, and looking at the VT EPROM ID within TunerPro (while loading the $A5C XDF), both my bin, and the $A5C bin show 077E, where as $A5D BIN shows 04FE.

The ranges 6000-7FFF and 9000-FFAF both match up exactly to $A5C, but 19800-1FFAF does not match.

Any ideas as to what is going on ? Is the wrong BIN loaded in the car ?

Cheers,

Damien
