Flashtool Connection Problem

Post by vc81 »

Hi all,

Today I could not connect to a stock VS V6 auto 7/95 model ute pcm in vehicle with the flashtool. I wanted to do a get bin. I have the latest version of flashtool and vl400's interface. Attached are the settings I used and the message I got. Can anyone see anything I have set wrong and point me in the right direction?

Thanks,
vc81

Can try with the VS bench setting and it will not try and silence the BCM - your log file indicates that the BCM is not responding. All settings look correct though so should really be getting a response from the BCM.

Check that the pins on the interface are ok and it is plugged in fully.

Thanks for your reply vl400. I just tried the VS bench setting a few times and it actually connected one of these times and I was able to do a get bin once. Can't get a connection again on this bench setting though. I also just connected with Tunerpro and the dash displays and works fine. Would this mean the interface connection is ok? What is the difference between using the in vehicle and the bench settings?

The bench setting does not look for the BCM, in a VS it should respond to a silence chatter command.

Ahh ok. This vehicle has had a problem for a couple of years with the central locking not working, even had a new key linked to the vehicle at one stage and didn't make any difference. Given this flashtool connection problem and the central locking problem could this mean there is a faulty BCM in this vehicle? Is there any way to test the BCM to see if it is faulty?

As above, anyone have any ideas why I am having trouble connecting with the flashtool? Could the BCM be faulty?

Probably a tech1 would be the best tool for testing as it can request the BCM to do certain things to the outputs and display the input status.

Ok thanks vl400. I don't have a tech1 or know of anyone that has one.
