what data cable to read a flash OBD2 GM?

Post by vwnut8392 »

i have a 4.8 2001 silverado and im interested in getting into tuning the ECU is my truck. i see plenty of information on OBD1 tuning, logging and flashing but nothing as far as OBD2. i know HPtuners exists but i dont want to spend the kind of money if i dont have to. if i can get away with using tuner pro RT for map editing and just some sort of cheap reflash cable or a DIY cable i can build would be great. i'd like to be able to adjust basic mapping like timing, fuel etc and do things remove emissions related BS that is not necessary on the engine. would anyone be kind enough to point me in the right direction?

Whats the service number of the pcm?

If no tunerpro definition exists do you have the skills to create one?
