If ECM does not get reset first, then it cannot be security linked.

You can replace a PIM if the ECM and BCM aren't touched, but this one definitely won't allow it.
I've even done it and changed the PIM code while doing so and the car starts.

The thread I made a while ago, I did make a post about each option for programming and the exact frames it sends, the PIM requires having the correct immo written into it and linked with the BCM otherwise it will not be happy.

Okay, just ran through it again, particular steps involved and no resetting the ecm.

Replace PIM with reset unit, bcm/pim link with correct code, car starts.
Reset PIM that was just linked.
Link bcm/pim again and choose another code for s&g's (I went for 1111 because it's quicker to punch in for testing ecm's), car now starts with both PIM's and different codes in each.

Ripped the pim and it's as above.

Tried a reset PIM, system already reset (car still starts)
Tried linking and put in a new code, system linked and car still starts.
Tried a reset ecm with the hopefully new code, fail.
Reset the PIM.... car still starts.... so it's now broken in a good way.

All normal and happily linked as far as it's concerned.

So if I read this right....

The ECU you have is now linked to a PIM but will run the car with another PIM not linked to it??

Have you just solved the immobiliser off issue?!?
According to chemistry, alcohol is a solution...

What would happen if you disconnect the PIM and short the starter out, does the motor run?
