Hantek 6074bc

Post by Cincinnatus »

Thought I would share that I got a hantek 6074bc from Amazon for $110 and I downloaded the 600x software and drivers from hantek. Installed and immediately tried using it without even calibrating it and was pleased with the results. I don't use scopes frequently, so I'm not an authority on accuracy, but if you're like me and need an inexpensive way to record signals, I can say that this works, and wasn't difficult to use.

Thanks for the tip. I bought a really old version of one of them over 10 years ago, and its been fantastic and still works perfectly. Very similar software too. Mines the DSO-2150 and that looks like an update or at least the current model. I used it to capture this viewtopic.php?f=31&t=113&p=950 back 13 years ago by the looks!

The software was just updated on hanteks site last year. There were complaints about it before the update. Also, I considered the 1008c, but the sampling rate was much lower, and many older reviews said drivers for both didn't work with win10, but I had no problems. I wanted 4 channels and this fit the bill.

OK, and with a 70MHz bandwidth, I could also use it with my Ham Radio hobby!

Didn't see any decoding options in hantek software, but I read there are other software options that work for these scopes. Openhantek was mentioned, but I haven't investigated any of the other software yet.

for serial data, and in general interpreting a digital waveform the sigrok supported hardware from ebay tends to be pretty good bang for buck. the software is a bit clunky but it does the job. Something like https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/303974787381 Supposedly sigrok supports the hantek equipment as a source, but I dont know how well that works if at all. edit: looks like support is 'planned' https://www.sigrok.org/wiki/Hantek_1008C and 'works' for the https://sigrok.org/wiki/Hantek_6022BL depending which model. Sigrok can decode serial, and various other protocols including VPW viewtopic.php?f=3&t=4761

Almost forgot, I downloaded a SDK file when getting software and drivers. Didn't install it as I didn't know what it was. Serial decoder? I'll report back if so.

SDK is Software Development Kit. Its libraries so you can write your own tools that talk to the scope. Generally speaking though its not worth the effort going down that road as the off the shelf software options are generally capable. It is good for people on projects like the sigrok project to add support for the hardware though.
